Fresh Lamb & Pork
ZJ Farm is a small, family-run, diversified farm. We raise pigs and lamb for meat and vegetables for a community supported agriculture group. This year, as part of our livestock operation, we are raising 25 hogs and 50 lambs for sale directly to people like you who want to have the highest quality food. We do everything possible to raise our animals in a healthy, stress-free environment. Our efforts include:
1. Raising our animals without growth promoters, hormones or antibiotics. 2. Using a holistic approach to animal health care which includes probiotics, herbs and homeopathy. 3. Feeding our animals grains and hay free of pesticides and herbicides. 4.Feeding no Genetically Modified grains or feed. 5. Rotationally grazing our animals on seven acres of rolling pasture. We will have hogs ready beginning in August. Our spring lambs will be available from June through February. Please complete the order form and return to us. We sell whole or half lambs for $1.40 per pound live weight. The live lambs weigh on average between 100 to 140 lbs, and give between 25 and 60 lbs. of packaged meat depending upon how you have them processed at the locker. Our hogs sell for $200.00 per animal and weigh about 225-250 pounds or $100 per half hog. A processed pig will give you between 70 and 110 lbs of packaged meat. You pay the locker directly for butchering and processing. (please check with us for any possible prices changes) You can choose how you want the meat cut and packaged. Susan can discuss the options with you. Buyers familiar with the butchering process can contact the meat lockers directly. We can also provide preparation tips for our lamb, since cooking with lamb is a new experience for many of us. We will share our favorite recipes and would love to discover new ones. Do not send payment with the order form. You can pay when we deliver your animal to the locker. We deliver the live animal to one of several lockers in the Johnson and Linn County area. They will consult with your regarding your order
